Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

The two best parts to this cookie are the brown butter and the homemade bourbon vanilla. If you’re not making you’re own vanilla, you’re missing out. More on that coming soon (holiday gift teaser?)

Ingredients:

  • 2 sticks butter browned in a sauce pan

  • 1.5 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk

  • 1 tablespoon (aka a good glug) of vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon greek yogurt

  • 2-3 pinches baking soda and 1-2 pinches salt

  • 2 1/4 cup flour

  • As many chocolate chips as you like! I buy the milk chocolate bar from Trader Joes and roughly chop about half of it.

  • Flaky salt for sprinkling

Let’s Go!

  • Brown the butter over medium low heat in a sauté pan swirling every once in awhile to keep it from burning. Let it cool a a bit until it’s not hot to the touch.

  • Mix all the wet ingredients and add in the dry (I put them all in the sifter and add a little at a time and mix)

  • Mix in chocolate chunks

  • Put dough in the fridge for an hour (you don’t have to, but this “rule” I actually do follow)

  • Drop dough balls of any size (I usually do about an inch or so) onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 9-11 minutes.

  • As soon as they come out of the oven, sprinkle with flaky salt and enjoy!
